From the carpark at Maymorn station, head briefly east along the road to the start of the Tunnel Track. The track follows the old railbed, winding through pine forest and farmland for 4.5km to Kaitoke. There is one short tunnel - you could manage without a torch, but one would be nice. There is one short 500m section on a gravel public road, but otherwise the trail is free of traffic apart from bikers, horses and walkers. At Kaitoke, a track junction is reaches with the Kaitoke roadend a hundred-or-so meters to the left, and a public forestry track to the right providing access tot he Rimutaka Railtrail.
