Sheltered open areas tucked in amoungst the bush and scrub at the edge of the Pyke River make excellent camp spots. There's an old air strip on the true left side of the river which the Pyke route crosses. This area is really the last good place to camp that's not in the bush all the way to the Barrier River. Down stream from the air strip the open terrain on the true left shown on the map is mostly thickly scrubbed.
