A pleasant and little visited NZFS hut in the Mangatainoka valley. The hut sits at the downstream end of a large grassy clearing, 10m from the river. It features a woodburner (plety of firewood around). Water is from the stream.

Note that land downriver is private and permission is required (currently off Helisika) to travel down to Te Puia. The main access is from Tussock Hut via a marked route down the river. A good route also exists from Te Puke via the 2nd major creek upstream of Mangatainoka Hut.
