Note: Described in the reverse direction to your journey

This an old NZFS track. The start of the track is to the east of a large windfall/slip on the true left of Dorset Creek & the track can be difficult to pick up. The track climbs very steeply a small rib to the main spur, which when reached is very obvious. The track up the main spur to the bushline at the 1220m contour is well defined & well marked with permolat. At the bushline, a defined footbed sticks to the spur & leads all the way to the marked tarn west of South King.
