After Hacket Hut, the track climbs a steep 200m to Totara Saddle, where it turns left (N) at the junction with the Pelorus Track to follow an undulating, steadily rising ridge line to Rocks Hut. This track is mostly under the bush line, with the exception of a scrubby clearing on the tops near Pt. 906. The track is also somewhat rough, with lots of tree roots, and it has some boggy patches and areas of unavoidable mud. But although the tops are swampy in places, between Browning Stream near the beginning and Rocks Stream near the very end, there is no guaranteed running water along the track. The track is shared with the Te Araroa Trail. Rocks Hut is a large, modern, spacious hut, easily accessible from Nelson, with views over the Pelorus Valley. It also has flush toilets. There is no cell reception at the hut, but there is at the Rocks, the formation on the tops a short climb from the hut.
