From pt810, Dora Track drops SW briefly to a narrow saddle, before climbing steadily on a broadening ridgeline through mature beech forest. On reaching flat tops, Te Matawai Hut is found next to the track.

East of Te Matawai Hut the track is well marked and cut through mature beech forest. Dropping on a narrowing ridge the track reaches a saddle after about 1km. A brief climb follows to pt180, where a signpost marks the turnoff to Sth Ohau Hut via Yeates Track.
