From Minchin Pass, descend following the marked route before dropping into Townsend Creek. Boulder hop until an elevation of ~800m, where a section of unmaintained track ~300m in length on the TL bypasses a section of waterfalls. A significant gorge section is found an hour or two downstream, which requires good conditions to pass. Even so, expect to get quite wet. Things widen close to the Taramakau, providing fast travel.
If travelling in the reverse direction, ensure that the correct (middle) fork is selected at an elevation of ~750m
