From the swingbridge, follow the marked track downriver, crossing the sidestream to the end of the 4WD road shown on maps. The track is closed to public vehicles but used by GWRC and maintained to 4WD standard. Zigzagging to the tops it then drops to the Kaitoke campground.

Take the vehicle track heading east along grassy flats from the information kiosk at the campground, shown on maps. This follows flats 500m east before swinging north up a spur. The track is closed to public vehicles but used by GWRC and maintained to 4WD standard, Reaching the tops there are glimpse view of the Kaitoke area before it drops into the Eastern Hutt valley, ending at a sidestream shown on maps. The sidecreek must be forded but a swingbridge over the main Hutt River is 100m upriver.
