A carpark and information board on the bushedge at the start of the tracks to Upper Whirinaki and Central Whirinaki Huts. The roadend is often called Pleteau Roadend - though the nearby Plateau Hut, once 2km NW from here, is no longer there.

Legal access is along forestry roads, first Main Road, then turning left 1.5km before Matakuhia Saddle, where indicated by 'Whirinaki Track' signposts. Each turn from here to the roadend is similarly signposted.
