From Rex Simpson Hut, drop east to the 4WD track and follow it south for 1.5km. Where the track starts to climb to the ridgeline, a boundary fence drops west towards My Gerald Station and the Coal Stream roadend. The turnoff is signposted.

A 4WD track follows the boundary fence north from the track junction, passing Rex Simpson Hut. The hut is 150m east of the track and not signposted. It is easy to miss in the dark / mist. There is not water at the hut, so you're best filling up at the stream on the track 250m south of the hut.
