Note: Described in the reverse direction to your journey
A steep descent off Ohuinga, initially through tussock and then along the edge of several large slips - some of which are better negotiated on the eastern side. A good ground trail exists. A small climb to 1496 is followed by good long flat sections of easily traversed tops past several large tarns (good camping spots with views). The biv can be seen from the top of the final climb after the second large tarn.
