From Wairauahiri Hut a boggy tramping track runs east for 1km before climbing a low escarpment and encountering the end of the old Port Craig logging tramway. The next 5km of tramway are not in great condition and are boggy / waterlogged in places. Francis Burn is crossed on an impressive trestle viaduct. A signposted track junction just before the next viaduct at Edwin Burn marks the turnoff to Okaka Lodge on the Hump Ridge Track.
