From Becketts Hut return to the Waterloo Burn and follow this upriver. The marked track shown on the map does not exist, so instead simply follow the river which is straight forward travel.

AT about the 600m contour, if you climb out of the river bed you should spot markers poles crossing the valley floor from the south, the Te Ararora trail, so link up with these.
