Cross the Dickson River (ankle-knee deep in normal flows) 50m above the confluence and follow the south bank of the Mikonui downstream. Either stick to the bank until the track from the Homestead is intercepted adjacent to the hut, or weave your way through interconnected clearings on terraces south of the river to reach the hut. A series of bait stations may air in the latter route.
