Note: Described in the reverse direction to your journey
There is a light trail that leaves Cullers Hut and cuts down through the bush to the South to reach the open flats, but otherwise you can just follow the open grass down to the east and then south. Cross the large stoney flood plain of the Elcho Stream and ford it to the true right (shin to knee deep under with a swift current under normal flows). Elcho Hut is located on a grassy terrace just up from the stream bed.
