The track starts at a toilet at the end of the residential street in Bealey Spur township. Parking is next to the state highway, at the base of the hill 200m below the track start, about 200m east along the state highway from the Bealey Hotel.

A well travelled, well marked track runs up the spur to Bealey Hut. Expect at least half a dozen day-trip parties a day on fine weekends. Erosion has become a problem and several sections are boardwalked.
