Climb the spur just upriver of the creek draining V-notch pass, and once on a good terrace sidle to the base of the tussock/screen face leading to the pass. Climb to the pass, wither crossing at the V-notch, or (as I did) some 20m east of it.
Once on the southern face it is possible to sidle on good steady scree below pt2058 to reach the Ahiriri-Temple pass.
Alternatively descend the gully below the V-notch into the head of the Ahuriri.
