A good, cut track runs most of the way from the Weramata-Mangahoanga confluence to Casino Hut.

The track heads up the spur behind Casiino Hut and joins the ridge, which is followed over the tops before zigzagging down the south face to the Mangahoanga. The track has been well cut in the past, and is still well marked, though windfall in places is becoming a problem.

The confluence with the Weramata is 150m downriver, passing a smaller sidecreek on the northern bank. The river is small and low (ankle deep) in normal flows.
