From the tarn un Upper Death Valley, climb eastwards up decent scree and rock to the main ridge line. Look for a break in the bluffs, there's the ramp under Peak 1960 or a scree gut, both lead down to the scree above the lake at the head of the Kay. Head around the northern side of the lake and descend rolling terrain down to the Scott/Kay Saddle.
