A well cut track drops NW from Arawaru Summit to the bushedge. Once in the bush the track cutting stops and you are left to follow a sporadically marked route NW then N down the ridgeline. At the unnumbered peak 400m south of pt624 a tree adorned with excessive flagging tape marks the junction with the Main Range route, joining from the West.

From the junction the Arawaru track continues to climb south, becoming vague in places, until it reach the bushedge 100m north of the summit. There is a good cut track through the leatherleaf to to trig point at Arawaru - but it can be hard to locate the start of it where you exit the bush - nose around until you find it.

The Arawaru Summit features a trig station and views over Palmerston North to the west and the Tararua District to the east.
