Forth from the scrubby clearing at Tangata Maunga follow the ridgeline north to Mick. There's a reasonable ground trail and occasional, assorted markers. Mick summit is of tall scrub, and marked by assorted tape.

From Mick south you alternate between scrub and good bush. The route has a reasonably well defined ground trail, and occasional, assorted markers. Things get really scrubby as you approach the 'clearing' at Tangata Maunga - skirting it to the west may be the best plan.
