Leading the hut, the traverse across the clearing is the only flat part of this segment. once into the bush, the track descends, on the TR, to a swing bridge.

Now on the TL, the descent continues, crossing the bridged Summit Ck just before the marked side track down to Travers Falls.

Remaining on the main track, it's just 1km to the bridged Cupola Ck and the track junction.

From the bridge over Cupola Creek, the track climbs steeply through to Upper Travers Hut, relenting only infrequently. After a km, a marked side track leads down to Travers Falls.

The track continues to climb to a swing bridge that crosses to the TR and again resumes the climb to a clearing in front of the hut.
