You need to ford the Haast River to get to the Brewster Track from the Fantail Falls nature walk. This is impassible after heavy rain. A good quality track climbs relentlessly to bush line, and then continues on up the ridge to the hut. Be wary of drop offs to the north, there a risk of being blown over a bluff in high winds!
