At the radio mast on pt1094, head due east down the face. Aim about 50m north of the ridge visible below. Once level with the bushedge south of you, cut south across a scrubby gut and sidle the grassy face below to the main ridge. The ridge is of tall tussock and is ok to decend but hard to climb. Drop into the bush and follow the main ridge west, downhill. The only chalelnging section is 500m later where the ridge appears to end, and a compass is handy to pick the direction to drop the following face until the ridge starts again lower down.
Dropping out of beech into podocarp forest the ridge swings ENE and drops to an obvious saddle where it turns north towards pt601. A clear but unmarked junction exists here with a broad open ridge / route dropping south towards the Waiotauru.
