Follow the Rodger Inlet track southwestwards down through the bush to Walker River and then on to reach the head of the inlet where the hut can be viewed off in the distance. The track is in pretty good condition as far as Walker River, its muddy in places with wind fall and a bit over grown on the way to the inlet. The stretch along the inlet involves scrambling along some small bluffs (on the track) until you reach flat ground again. Walk past the old Rodger Inlet A Frame hut and the new hut is a short distance further on.

Rodger Inlet Hut, along with Monowai Hut, gets visited by a lot of boaties with ensuing boatloads of alcohol consumed. The hut can be in rough condition.
