From the swing bridge follow the track down to the south branch of the Young and climb up the hill. The track crosses a semi active slip where care is requited, and then climb up above a gorge. Its on through bush and over a large wooden bridge across Stag Creek to eventually reach Young Hut. Some flats on the opposite side of the river on the way to the hut look like they would make nice camp spots if the hut is full and conditions are good.
