Below the Mt Brown turnoff, the pack track ends at river flats. Pass beneath a tall unstable looking grave cliff and pick up 4WD farm tracks running down farm flats on the northern side of the Styx to the carpark at the roadend.

From the carpark, follow poled farm tracks up grassy flats for 2km to where flats end at an undercut bluff, which is passed on the river gravel. The old dray road up the Styx starts soon after and is marked. The turnoff to Mt Brown is 200m after the bluff.
