First 3km are a pleasant stroll across the flats (well worn track through low grass) with one small scramble over a bluff until the slip is reached after about an hour.
If the river is low -walk in the riverbed well below the slip (ignore the first orange triangles half way up the bank - this is the all weather route for when the river is in flood) until you see triangles just before river starts to gorge. Climb up to rejoin track.
If the river is high - you will need to walk along the shelf of gravel at the bottom of the slip to where the orange triangles are high on the bank, a bit of a scramble to get up to access the all weather route.
