Travel down the western shore of Mavora Lake (north) is relatively straight forward so long as lake levels are not high (water not above the grassline at the north/south ends of the lake). In high lake levels travel would be very hard as thick scrub backs onto the lakeshore.

Travel is along the shingle beaches of the lake except for the sections of beech forest where the shore is impassable but reasonable ground trails sidle the beech just above the lake on the valleyside. Brief 10m scrubby sections exist where you enter/leave the beech but otherwise it is easy-moderate going.

As you approach the southern end of the lake an occasionally-maintained permolat marked track is picked up which leads to the swing bridge at the North Mavora campsite.
