A signpost and information board off the Hacket Hut track marks the start of the Chromium Mines track. The track was once a benched pack track but has eroded to be effectively a bouldery tramping track. It climbs steadily, gaining 100m in about 1km as it sidles up the side valley towards the mines. A signpost marks the area of the chromium mines, with 2 obvious ones being located 10m before the sign (below the track) and 50m before the sign (above the track).
