This route crosses private land belonging to Waterloo Burn Station.
From Coal Creek head northeast through tussock land, climbing the hill to the saddle west of Pt 644. Descend down the other side to a stream and follow this to where is flows into Waterloo Burn. Cross the burn to the true left and follow this as it makes its way down valley, beneath Becketts Hut. Becketts isn't visible from the river. Climb the hill, a large orange triangle marks a short trail up into the trees where the hut is located in a large clearing.
