A signpost at the Poads Road roadend marks the start of the track into the Ohau / Waiopehu Hut. The track is poled, and crosses farm paddocks on terraces above the Ohau River. Permission is not required, but dogs on a lead, bolts out of rifles, and all the usual rules for private land. It is an easy 1km walk to the bushedge. The Waiopehu Track junction is 100m beyond and marked by a signpost.
