Head downriver from Daphne Hut. Usual route is to cross the river at the hut, descend the last of the flats to the 1st forks. River then enters a gorge and frequent crossings are required downriver. River is generally knee deep but can easily flood. The next forks are 500m downriver. A DOC triangle on the downriver, southern bank marks the start of the track up the spur to Longview.

Head up the Tukituki river from the forks/trackend - being sure to take the northern of the two forks at the track-end. This section is gorged, and frequent crossings are required downriver. River is generally knee deep but can easily flood. The next forks are 500m upriver, and is the start of tracks to Howletts and pt1271. Daphne Hut is 100m upriver on the eastern bank.
