A good, cut track runs most of the way from the Weramata-Mangahoanga confluence to Casino Hut.

Head up the Mangahoanga for 150m, passing a small creek and some bluffs on the northern side. The river is small and low (ankle deep) in normal flows. A large DOC triangle marks the start of the track to Casino. The track zigzags up the face and joins the ridge, which is followed over the tops to Casino Hut. The track has been well cut in the past, and is still well marked, though windfall in places is becoming a problem.

Casino Hut is on the track, in a large clearing overlooking the river forks, 40m above the creek.
