From pt510 the forestry track continues NW before sweeping down into the Kahuterawa valley to hit Scotts Road. The creek must be forded and is normally small and ankle deep. The roadend and locked gate are 100m north across the bridge.

From the locked gate at Scotts Roadend, head over the bridge and 100, or so to where a track forks east, crossing the river and climbing the opposite valleyside. The creek must be forded and is normally small and ankle deep. Follow this track up the spur onto the tops and then SE to pt510. The highpoint is marked by an obvious X of wide, grassed forestry tracks.
