Dropping north from Brockett the ridgeline widens to flat, tarn-dotted tops. A series of low, flat peaks and saddle follow as the ridgeline swings round the north side of North Mitre Stream. Easy descents follow to pt1390 then to the bushedge on tussock and good fine scree all the way. An old track can be found at the bushedge, dropping down the spur to Cow Creek Hut and is readily followed once found. The sidle track from Arete Forks Hut joins soon before you reach the river.
