A short steady climb on a broad cut track takes you to Waiopehu summit from Waiopehu Hut. A rounded summit covered in leatherleaf - the views are probably better at the hut! An unmarked route runs south from here down Oriwa Ridge, while the cut track swings west towards Richards Knob.
