The track leads away from Greenstone Hut, into the bush and descends to the fixed bridge and crosses to the TL of the Greenstone River.

Not shown accurately on most maps, the track climbs steeply, zigging a little to gain the Greenstone Track. Continuing downstream, the track stays under the beech until Slip Flat, a bridge providing a smooth crossing of Slip Stream.

Once across the clearing, the track again enters the beech, crossing another bridged stream and comes to a junction with the Lake Rere track, which descends to the river.
