This is an old NZFS track. On the south side (true left) of the forks/confluence in the upper Waiohine River, sidle & climb gently through bush towards the toe of the spur that climbs up on to Dorset Ridge. Once on the spur, climb along its spine, continually gaining steady height until emeging at the bushline at the 1320m contour. From the bushline, continue following the open spur to the main Dorset Ridge, joining it west of pt. 1351.
