Signposts on either bank of the Whirinaki mark the junction of the track from Plateau Roadend to Upper Whirinaki Hut with the track down the Whirinaki River to join the Central Whirinaki Track at the cave.

Note that the track upriver from Te Hoe has been rerouted directly to Upper Whirinaki Hut, and no longer continues downriver as far as this junction.
