From the track junction with the route over to the Whitestone Valley, the Kiwi Burn Loop track crosses the infant Kiwi Burn and enters the bush on the eastern side of the clearing, climbing steeply for a few minutes before leveling off and heading to the large clearing north of Pt805. The track is well marked and good quality, and after re-crossing the eastern end of the clearing drops gently down through the bush to the Mararoa River. A DOC sign is reached on the Mavora Walkway pointing the way to Kiwi Burn Hut and the Mavora lakes, near the swing bridge across the Mararoa.
