From the Swing Bridge a well marked track heads down the Mararoa River before turning inland to cross the Kiwi Burn at large grassy flats. Kiwi Burn Hut is a short distance away on the western side of the flats.

From Kiwi Burn Hut follow the track southeastwards across grass flats and ford the Kiwi Burn. The excellent quality track enters the trees and carries on down to the Mararoa River and heads upriver to the swing bridge that connects with a car park on Mavora Lakes Road.
