Head upstream from Army Hut, and once past the bush begin climbing up the hill, aiming to pass south of Pt706. A tongue of bush extends down from the slopes above and needs to be crossed through, there are some good deer trails to follow, just above the 700m contour.

Connect with the tiny stream on the topomap which is your last watersource until the Whitestone, so fill up here. Scree slopes begin soon above but a tounge of grass can be followed up the hill for a bit longer to the northeast. Firm scree keeps close to the northern bush edge and makes for the best travel to reach the gully near the 1100m contour at the lowest point of the top of the slip.

Allow 2 hours for the climb up from Army Hut.
