The climb up from East Hawdon involves minimal scrub. There is camping at 1684 but you'll probably need snow for water. The sidling NW of Valiant is surprisingly pleasant. Again there is camping after 1494 with water from a medium sized tarn. From here the ridge is broad open travel. The bush on the descent is reasonably open but steep in parts.
