From Tarn Hut, return to the ridgeline and follow it SSE. After 400m a ridge joins from the SW. The junction is marked by a cairn. This is the turnoff to Dorset Ridge and Dorset Hut.

A clear ground trail follows the main ridgeline NNW from the Dorset turnoff. Tarn hut is only 400m beyond, just off the eastern side of the ridge in a basin of tussock and sparse leatherwood.
