An old 4wd track follows the western shore of North Mavora Lake to West Burn Hut.

Cross the Mararoa (knee deep in normal flows) at either of the crossing points - the 4WD one 3km north of Caseys or the old one signposted 'This track is not recommended for 4wd due to severe erosion' 1.5km north of Caseys. Cut across the flats at the head of the lake to the western shore and pick up an old overgrown 4wd track running along the shoreline south to the hut. The track climbs onto terraces in places and you can opt to follow the shingle lakeshore instead if the lake levels are low. The track ends at the hut.

1.5-3 hrs
