An old roadbed runs from Black Bridge to Scotts Road. This route is popular with mountain bikers as it links mountain bike tracks in forestry to the east.

From Black Bridge the pleasant track climbs for 2.5km to reach the end of Scotts Road. Continuing a further 1.5km takes you to a road junction, where you can turn left and walk a further 300m to reach the Scotts Roadend access point for Burtton's Track and Punga Track.

From the locked forestry gate at Scott's Roadend, head NE along Scotts Road, turning right at the junction after 300. Follow the road a further 1.5km to where it ends at a gate.

A walking, cycling track continues from here, dropping gently down the old Back Road roadbed to Black Bridge, where there is a carpark and picnic area.
