Cross the Waohine RIver (the eastern fork) at Parks Forks and start up the face opposite heading ESE. Very steep going at first - a tough climb for 300 vertical meters before the ridge levels out and starts to meander. The ridgeline is narrow in places, broad in others and drops to various saddles The bushedge is reached around 1200m and a further rocky kilometer follows through sparse leatherleaf on a narrow ridgeline with a good ground trail. Finally you break onto broad tussock tops. Ignore the first spur dropping south, and continue a further 500m round the head of a creek to where a 2nd broad tussock face drops to the SSE. This is the start of the side-spur dropping to Dorset Hut. There's a signpost marking the turnoff, but its easy to miss.
