From Kime hut, follow the main track north 150m to the summit of Hut Mound. From here a poled route branches NNE, dropping into the head basin of the creek draining SE from Bridge Peak. Crossing the small stream (trickle) the poled route climbs the gentle face opposite and joins the main Tararua Main Range poled route at a junction marked only by warratahs.

300m before reaching Bridge Peak, a poled route branches south off the Main Range route heading for Kime Hut. Dropping to a slight basin then climbing SSW the poled route joins the main Otaki-Kime track on Hut Mound. Kime Hut is 150 south along the main track.
