From pt600 head NE and later east along the top of the range. The route is sporadically marked with tape. 200m before reaching the NS ridge climbing to Arawaru, a turnoff south drops to the nearby creek across which is an old tent camp. Ignoring the turnoff, continue east and you'll reach a highpoint where an excess of flagging tape marks the track junction for Arawaru/Quartz Creek.

A roughly marked route runs west the SW along the main range from the track junction on the unnumbered highpoint between pt624 and Arawatu. The start of the route is marked with flagging tape on the summit.

Head west along the range. After 200m a track branches off south into the small creek, on the opposite side of which an old tent camp exists. Ignoring the turnoff, continue west along the tops, following the range as it swings SW to pt 600.

At pt600 the most obvious track starts to drop west, but another flagging-tape marked route also hgeads south. The turnoff can be hard to spot.
